AARP Grant Awarded to AltadenaWILD

AARP announced that AltadenaWILD has received a $14,750 2026 Community Challenge grant during the program’s 10th anniversary.

The grant will support replanting Altadena’s tree canopy that was lost in the Eaton Fire by educating residents on native plants, tree care and defensible space, distributing trees, and connecting residents to local tree services. The project kicks off on July 18 with a community workshop on tree selection with landscape architects on hand to advise residents on tree species for their properties.

The grant will further enable AltadenaWILD’s Altadena Tree Steward program of offering trees in 2026 at no cost to wildfire-impacted residents, and will offer wraparound services to support residents, especially older residents on tree planting, care and watering.

Residents should register their interest in access to workshops and trees via the Altadena Tree Steward interest form, to receive further information on the July 18 and future workshops.
